Replacing the Back Glass on a 2010-2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost
Working on a 2010-2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost isn't like fixing a standard daily commuter. These cars are built with incredible attention to detail, and when the back glass gets shattered, you need a technician who actually understands the luxury engineering behind it. I've spent years handling high-end auto glass, and I can tell you right now that a Ghost requires patience, precision, and the right tools to get the job done right without damaging that beautiful leather interior or the intricate rear defrost grid.
Mobile Service Where You Need It
You probably don't want to drive a Ghost with a busted rear window across town. That's why we bring the shop to your driveway. We cover the entire Greater Toronto Area (GTA), doing a lot of our high-end work right in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham. You hand us the keys, and we handle the rest safely inside your own garage.
How We Handle the Replacement Process
Here is exactly how I tackle a back glass replacement on a Ghost. No shortcuts, just the proper procedure.
- Interior Protection: The very first thing I do is cover the rear seats, parcel shelf, and C-pillars with heavy-duty protective blankets. Glass shards get everywhere, and protecting that bespoke leather and wood trim is my absolute priority.
- Safe Removal: I use a specialized wire cutting system to slice through the old urethane. This cuts the glass out clean without scratching the pinch weld or damaging the expensive surrounding exterior trim.
- Surface Cleaning: Once the old glass is out, I vacuum every single shard from the cabin. Then, I trim the old urethane down to a flat 1-2mm base and clean the pinch weld thoroughly so the new seal will stick properly.
- Primer Application: Any bare metal gets a coat of high-grade automotive glass primer. This stops rust from forming down the road and ensures a solid chemical bond between the frame and the new urethane.
- Adhesive Installation: I lay down a thick, consistent bead of premium, fast-curing urethane adhesive. Then, using heavy-duty suction cups, we drop the new OEM-quality back glass perfectly into place, making sure the gaps are factory-tight.
