- Extracting the shards: We get every last piece of broken glass out of the bottom of the door shell. Leaving them behind guarantees a constant rattle and can jam your drain holes, leading to rusted-out doors.
- Inspecting the window regulator: Sometimes the same impact that broke the glass bends the lifting mechanism. I always check the tracks and the motor gear before mounting the replacement pane.
- Clearing the run channels: Glass fragments love to hide in the rubber weatherstripping. We clean those tracks out completely so the new window rolls up and down without scratching or binding.
Aligning the New Glass
Dropping the new door glass into a Mack Pinnacle requires a bit of finesse. You have to tilt it just right to clear the window frame, then gently seat it into the regulator brackets. I always run the window up and down a few times before putting the door panel back together. If it binds even a fraction of an inch, we adjust the tracks right then and there.
Weatherstripping Checks
A heavy truck cab needs to be sealed tight against the highway wind. I double-check the outer belt moulding to make sure rain and snow stay outside where they belong. If the rubber is torn from the glass breaking, I will let you know so we can address it.
