- Protecting the Interior: First thing I do is tape off the door card and lay down thick protective blankets over your leather seats and center console. Shattered glass gets everywhere, so I vacuum every last shard out of the door cavity to prevent future rattles.
- Careful Removal: I carefully pop the wood trim and unbolt the heavy interior door panel, disconnecting the memory seat switches and speaker wiring. Then, I unbolt the broken glass from the window regulator tracks.
- Surface Cleaning: I strip away the old vapor barrier sealant and clean the mounting channels thoroughly. Any leftover dirt or old glue here will cause the window to bind up later.
- Primer and Adhesive Installation: While the glass itself bolts into the regulator, the Bentley's heavy-duty weather seals and inner moisture barriers require fresh sealing. I apply a specialized primer to the bonding points and use a high-quality adhesive to properly secure the barrier and guide brackets. This keeps water and wind noise out of your door cavity.
- Alignment and Testing: I lower the new glass into the tracks and bolt it down. A convertible door glass must drop slightly when you pull the handle. I run a full calibration cycle to make sure the alignment is perfect. If it's off by a millimeter, it will catch on the soft top roof seal.
