Replacing the Windshield on a 2003-2010 Bentley Continental GT
The first-generation Bentley Continental GT is a heavy, beautifully engineered machine. These cars use thick, acoustically treated windshields to keep the cabin dead quiet at speed. - Protecting the Car: Before we even pick up a tool, we drape the fenders and cover that expensive leather dashboard. A dropped tool or a stray wire can ruin interior trim fast.
- Removing the Old Glass: We carefully pull the wiper arms and the lower cowl. Then, we use a wire-cutting system to slice through the old factory urethane. This lets us lift the heavy glass out without scratching the pinch weld or damaging the A-pillars.
- Surface Cleaning: This is where lazy techs mess up. We trim the old adhesive down to a thin, flat layer, clean the bare metal, and vacuum away any dirt or old glass shards sitting in the channel.
- Primer Application: Any exposed metal gets a coat of high-grade, rust-preventative primer. We also prime the black band on the new glass so the adhesive bites hard and forms a permanent seal.
- Setting the New Glass: We lay down a thick, consistent bead of fast-curing automotive urethane. It takes two of us to carefully set the new Bentley glass in place, checking the gaps on all sides to make sure it sits perfectly flush with the roofline.
