- Surface Cleaning: The pinch weld needs to be spotless. I use specialized automotive glass cleaners to strip away all dirt, grease, and debris. If the mounting surface is not perfectly clean, the new glass simply will not stick.
- Primer Application: Any spots where bare metal is exposed get a solid coat of rust-preventative primer. This is a non-negotiable step in my book. It stops corrosion in its tracks and guarantees the urethane bonds permanently to the frame.
- Adhesive & Glass Installation: Finally, I run a thick, consistent bead of fast-curing, high-quality adhesive around the frame. I set the new glass into place, hook the defroster and wiper components back up, and secure everything while the urethane cures.
