Windshield Replacement for the 2004-2010 Toyota Sienna
I have replaced hundreds of windshields on the second-generation Toyota Sienna over the years. If you drive a 2004 to 2010 model, you already know it is an incredibly reliable family hauler. But that massive piece of front glass takes a serious beating from highway rocks and winter debris. When it cracks, you need it swapped out correctly, especially since many of these vans are equipped with a heated wiper park area built right into the lower section of the glass.
How We Replace Your Sienna's Glass
I don't believe in cutting corners. Getting a heavy windshield to sit perfectly in a Sienna requires patience and the right technique. Here is exactly how I handle the job when I pull up to work on your van:
- Interior Protection: The first thing I do is lay heavy protective covers over your dashboard, steering wheel, and front seats. Siennas have a large dash area that can easily get scuffed if you aren't careful.
- Cowl and Trim Removal: I carefully unbolt the wiper arms and pop off the plastic cowl panel at the base of the windshield. The plastic retaining clips on a 2004-2010 model are usually old and brittle by now, so I take my time to remove them without snapping anything.
- Glass Extraction: I use a specialized wire cutting system to slice through the old factory adhesive. This lets me lift the heavy, damaged glass out of the pinch weld safely without scratching the vehicle's frame.
- Surface Cleaning and Primer: This step stops future leaks and rust. I trim the old urethane down to a paper-thin base layer and thoroughly clean the bare metal. If there are any scratches in the paint, I apply a high-quality anti-rust primer to seal them up.
- Adhesive and Installation: I lay down a thick, consistent V-bead of premium automotive urethane adhesive. Then, I set the new OEM-equivalent glass into place, reconnect your heated wiper grid, and bolt the trim back together.
