Getting Your Freightliner Classic XL Back on the Road

If you drive a Freightliner Classic XL built anywhere between 1987 and 2011, you already know it is a true workhorse. I have worked on hundreds of these rigs over the years, and they are built to take a beating. But when a piece of gravel kicks up off the 401 and spiders across your line of sight, you cannot just ignore it. You need a proper replacement to keep the wind out, pass your safety inspections, and keep your cab comfortable.

Understanding the 1987-2011 Classic XL Glass Setup

These trucks use a very specific flat-glass, two-piece split windshield design. Unlike the heavily curved glass on modern aerodynamic trucks, the Classic XL requires serious precision when dealing with the center divider and the rubber gaskets. If the molding is old, stiff, or the seal is not seated exactly right, you will hear a terrible wind whistle at highway speeds. Even worse, you will end up with water dripping right onto your dashboard and electronics during a heavy Canadian downpour.

My Approach to Heavy-Duty Windshield Replacements

When I show up to swap out your glass, I never rush the prep work. Prep is everything in this trade. The first thing I look at is the metal pinch weld under the old rubber. Winter road salt does a number on these older Freightliners, and rust is the absolute enemy of a tight seal.

Mobile Auto Glass Service Wherever You Are Parked

I know firsthand that downtime costs you money. You should not have to bobtail across town and kill half your day sitting in a cramped shop waiting room just to get your glass fixed. That is exactly why we bring the tools, the heavy-duty suction cups, and the fresh glass directly to your truck. Whether you are hooked up to a trailer at a warehouse in Mississauga, resting at a truck stop out in Brampton, or parked at your home base anywhere in the GTA, my truck is equipped to handle the job on-site.
